ISPM
...................................................................................................................................................................
ISPM is a multidisciplinary, pluralistic, non-governmental organization that was created to promote and defend the rights of women in Argentina. ISPM began as an informal working group in 1986 by a group of men and women from different fields, social backgrounds and areas of expertise-professional, academic, social and political activism, feminists, etc- and was legally constituted in 1993. Ever since then, we have worked constantly to promote and defend human rights, expanding our partnerships in order to change the status of women and the behavior of the population as a whole to achieve gender equality.

ISPM Actions and Services
...................................................................................................................................................................
Our services to the community include: social, economic and political research, planning and evaluating public policies, empowerment and leadership advice to national and international organizations, spreading awareness about human rights issues through campaigns and training as well as other various activities.
ISPM is concerned with the protection and promotion of women’s rights. This specifically includes the prevention of violence, sexual and reproductive rights, labor, and women’s leadership.
Our work is primarily intended to influence politicians, legislators, and municipal authorities, as well as provincial and national journalists, trade unionists, social organizations, and NGOs. We also focus on influencing society in general to introduce a perspective of gender equality in society.
The majority of our efforts are devoted to monitoring gender issues in the media, the impact of public policies on women and providing advice to legislators in municipal, provincial and national areas.
We also work with other national and international NGOs, as well as UNIFEM and UN agencies. By keeping them informed of our activities and through information we receive from them, we are able to better design and evaluate our strategies to further our efforts. In addition, we are also in contact with other NGOs in Latin America, the United States, Europe and other international agencies that work with the same topics.
Many of these organizations have given us grants to implement programs and provide means to take our training programs on the road (ECLAC, The Global Fund for Women, Mama Cash, AWID, Friedrich Nauman Foundation, Young Women’s Association of Spain, Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Center for Women’s Global Leadership Ford Foundation, and The Body Shop Foundation.) We have a strong Latin American network as well (e.g. Coordinating Committee for the follow-up to Beijing; Health Network of Latin American and Caribbean Women, Latin American Network of Feminist Women’s Forum Policies and Policies of the Southern Cone of Latin American and Caribbean Network Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, NGO Forum for transparency, etc.). Through these networks we share our experiences, combine our efforts to defend women’s rights and ensure that they are recognized as basic human rights and the implementation of affirmative action in all fields. In addition, we work together to develop models of Real Equality Opportunities in order to propose and promote them in our countries.
