"International Women's Health Day," where cases demonstrating the violation
of women's rights to health were presented; coordinated by the Permanent Forum

- Collaborated in the commemoration events of
the "International Missing Detained Persons Week," organized by the Grandmothers
of the Plaza de Mayo, the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo and Friends and Family
of Politically Motivated Detained/ Disappeared Persons. May 28.
- Together with the Embassy of the United States,
organized a three day seminar entitled "Why Support Women Candidates?" Buenos
Aires, May 27, 28, and 29.
- With special guest, Gloria Rogríguez (a North
American business woman whose expertise lie in the field of communications
and in training women leaders), national and local representatives, journalists,
political analysts and consultants, professional women, and more than 200
audience members.
- The debate focused on the changes that women
can make in politics, the financial and electoral obstacles they face, the
processes of candidate selection and financing, the system of PACs in the
US and their possible implementation in Argentina.
- Participated in the seminar entitled, "Advanced
Models of Social Administration," organized by the Secretariat of Social Promotion
and the Institute of BID development. Buenos Aires, May 15 to 18.
- Participated in the first "Workshop on Anti-discrimination
Legislation," organized by the Buenos Aires Legislature. Buenos Aires, May
15 and 16. (María José Lubertino, panelist on "The legislative tool in the

on Gender").
- Participated in the international seminar "The
New Institutional Mechanisms: State, Commerce, and Civil Society; Argentina
and Mercosur from a comparative perspective," organized by the BID and the

(which dealt with innovative strategies in the creation of jobs), with Giancarla

in the face of new reproductive technologies" with speaker Sidney Callam,
PhD, organized by the General Women's Center of the GCBA (Buenos Aires City

Women Represent Women," with speaker Giancarla Codrignani, organized by UBA
and the Commission on Women, Infants, Adolescents and Youth of the Buenos

- Participation in the panel and debate, "Poverty,
Universalism, and Human Rights," organized by the Association for United Nations

- Campaign "For the exercising of sexual and
reproductive rights" in coordination with the auspices of the Network of Health
of Women of Latin-America and the Caribbean, in commemoration of "International
Woman's Day". May.
- Sent press releases and flyers on the topic
to 400 journalists; release of 3 Cable TV programs ("Ni mas ni menos") and
2 micros of Cable TV ("Donna" and "El neuvo escenario") dedicated to women's
health; initiated our bulletin on line "Con ojos de mujer" referring to the
theme.
- Stage of training on the function of the Commission
on Human Rights of the United Nations, directed by the Center for Women's
Global Leadership and participated in the reunion of the Commission in order
to include a gender perspective in the representation of the International

- Massive campaign project on the prevention
of violence against women "FOR THE RIGHT TO LIVE WITHOUT VIOLENCE", financed
by UNIFEM. April 1998 - March 1999.

- Presented 2 members of ISPM (María José Lubertino
and Silvia Collin) as candidates to the Legislature of the City of Buenos
Aires in the position of "Adjunct Defenders of the People" and publicly supported
5 other feminist candidates (Press file available). March.
- Participated in the launch ceremony for the
program "Women and Human Rights," organized by the Secretariat of Human and
Social Rights of the Ministry of the Interior. March 19.
- Participated in the celebrations of "International
Woman's Day" organized by the Chamber of Pyme Women. March 9.
- Participated in "Buenos Aires Woman Week" activities
commemorating International Woman's Day, organized by the General Women's
Center of the GCBA. March 8 and 11.
- Participation in the "First Reunion of Women
Toward the Third World," organized by the Forum of Political Women of the
municipality of Rio Grande. (María José Lubertino, panelist, declared "Guest
of Honor" by the municipality). Tierra del Fuego, March 6, 7, and 8.
- Mobilized the "International Woman's Day March"
with other women-focused NGOs. Buenos Aires, March 6.
- Participated in the Open Session convocated
by the Commission of Women, Infants, Adolescents and Youth of the Legislature
of Buenos Aires in commemoration of "International Woman's Day." The session
had the objective of addressing the creation of public policy that puts into
effect the unalienable rights delineated in articles 37°, 37°, and 38° of
the city's constitution. These articles refer to equal treatment and equal
opportunity, the recognition of reproductive rights, and the incorporation
of a gender perspective into the public environment. March 6.
- Participated in the Public Hearing on modification
projects of the penal codes on sexual offenses, organized by National House
of Representatives as a part of a campaign initiated in November of 1997.

inclusion of women on the Board of Directors of the Banco Ciudad (Press files
